DHAKA: A deal was signed between Burn and Plastic Surgery Unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital and Smile Train, American charitable organization, for providing free treatment for the cleft lip patients.
The deal was signed by the Country Manager of Smile Train Bangladesh Dr Mahbubul Hannan, National Chief Coordinator of Burn and Plastic Surgery Unit Dr Samanta Lal Sen (on behalf of Dhaka Medical College Hospital and Project Director of Smile Train DMCH Cleft Project Professor Dr M Abul Kalam (Head of Department, Plastic Surgery).
Treasurer of Bangladesh Society of Plastic Surgeons Professor Dr M Sazzad Khondoker signed the agreement on behalf of the society.
Director of Dhaka Medical College Hospital Brigadier General Mustafizur Rahman inaugurated the Smile Train DMCH Cleft Project.
Dr Raihana Awal, Associate Professor, Plastic Surgery, along with other officials of the department were also present at the event.
This is the first ever agreement signed between Smile Train and a government establishment.
Currently Smile Train is providing free treatment outside of Dhaka for the deprived and underprivileged cleft lip patients in Chittagong, Sylhet, Comilla, Bogra, Mymensingh, Jamalpur and floating hospital “Jibontori”.
