DHAKA: Activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and Chhatra Shibir set fire on roads, vandalized vehicles and launched attack on law enforcers in city key spots including Motijheel, Rampura, Fakirapool and Malibagh areas on Friday after Juma prayer.
In Rampura: Jamaat-Shibir men blasted 15 cocktails and vandalized a passenger bus in city’ Rampura bazaar area at 1:50pm following the execution of the war crimes convict Quader Mollah.
Witnesses said that wearing helmet riding on motorbikes, some 10-12 Shibir men blasted cocktails randomly in the area.
On information, police rushed to the spot and fired rubber bullets and tear shell to bring the situation under control.
Rampura Thana Sub-Inspector Dipayon confirmed the matter to banglanews.
In Malibagh: Some 30-40 people were injured in a fierce clash between police and Jamaat-Shibir in Malbagh Chowdhury para area after Juma.
They exploded 60 cocktails and vandalized couple of vehicles.
In Motijheel: Jamaat-Shibir men blasted six cocktails and torched four private cars at capital’s Motijheel area at around 2:00pm.
Witnesses said they also tried to set fire to two rickshaw and pouring petrol they set fire on roads.
On information, a fire service vehicle rushed to the spot and was trying to douse the fire.
War crimes convict Quader Mollah walked the gallows on Thursday night in the first-ever execution in a war crimes case.
Later, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami called dawn-to dusk hartal across the country for Sunday protesting execution of the war crimes convict Jamaat leader Quader Mollah.
