30-lakh more notes to come

DHAKA: Bangladesh Bank released some 34.35 crore pieces of new notes and coins worth Tk 6,000 crore in last one year.

Besides, a total of 30 lakhs pieces new notes will be issued Wednesday, said sources from the central Bank.

The central bank sources said at present, there were notes worth Tk 63015.80 crore in the market till January 31 while the amount was Tk 57318.89 crore in the same time of the last year.

According to currency management department, the central bank will release the notes of Tk 10, Tk 20 and Tk 50 denominations with picture of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in the day.

General Manager of BB Governor Secretariat AFM Asaduzzaman told banglanews that “some 30 lakh new notes would be released Wednesday”.

Bangladesh Bank released 5, 70, 5, 800 pieces coins of Tk 5 while 14, 67, 41, 878 pieces notes of Tk 5 this year.

Some 13, 29, 66, 560 pieces notes of Tk 20 were released while 1, 74, 1, 417 pieces notes of Tk 50.

A total of 2 crore pieces notes of Tk 500 were released while 6, 87, 45, 871 pieces notes of Tk 1000 in the last one year.
