DHAKA: A Dhaka Court placed Monir Uddin, who threw acid on a student of Eden College, on 9-day remand for police interrogation.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Amit Kumar Dey granted the remand plea when police produced him before the court with 10-day remand plea Friday.
Law enforcers in Rangamati arrested Monir Uddin on Thursday.
On January 15, two miscreants--Monir Uddin and his cohort Masum—attacked acid on the whole body of Ankhi, a final-year student of Bengali Department of the college, at a marriage register office at capital’s Chankharpul when she refused to the marriage proposal of Monir.
They also chopped the girl brutally.
On January 17, a 5-member medical board was formed for the better treatment of Eden College student Sharmin Akhtar Ankhi who sustained acid attack on Tuesday.
