DHAKA: Opposition BNP standing committee member Barrister Moudud Ahmed Saturday alleged that ruling Awami League is plotting to destroy democracy like 1975.
“Awami League had buried democracy in 1975 forming Baksal (one-party rule) and they are again plotting to destroy democracy,” he said.
The senior leader of the party came up with the allegation while addressing a programme on ‘future of democracy’ organized by Constitutional Rights Forum held at the National Press Club.
The BNP lawmaker said, “The election will not be neutral and fair if it is held under the party government. It will be snatched the rights of casting votes of the voters.”
He said, “We know Awami League. No democratic government runs the country such way as they ran the country in the last three and half years.”
With Adviser of the organization, also former secretary Syed Margub Morshed in the chair, the programme was also addressed among others by BNP international affairs adviser Asaduzzaman.
