US has very recently urged India to respect free flow of information through internet.
The US concern has rises from an incident in the south Indian states.
Some website has published a misinformation/propaganda that the Northeast Indian living in the south Indian States are being attacked by the locals of the southern states. As we would expect, this news would disseminate fear and panic to the northeast Indian of the southern part. And it has done so. Many people have moved out from this province for fear and panic, irrespective of the fact of the news. This is, off course, a content containing irresponsible and illicit matters having issues for public security, safety, treason and many more.
Being concerned, the government has imposed restriction on some websites which have parted in those activities. For a government having respect to the security of the people it is expected that it would act upon it. And it has done so.
But, while banning the alleged website, the government has also banned some other websites who are not part of these activities.
Like in other cases, US been concerned about the restriction by India. It claimed that they are in favour of full freedom of internet which has been infringed by India in banning other websites.
Being a world’s human rights watch man, US has done what it was supposed to do.
But the unfortunate thing is that It does not react equally on the issues happening worldwide. We have not observed any US concern over the Myanmar authority to impose restriction on freedom of expression and press freedom for more than thirty years or more which has just been lifted.
And ironically, we have observed the differing view in dealing with Julian Assange.
This is the type of world’s mockery played in international politics.
People are concerned about the US concern over Grameen Bank. Our concern is somehow mixed in this issue.
While the Rohingyas are screaming, the world leaders are playing the kites and pointing the fingers to Bangladesh. This is called shouldering one’s responsibility to the other. This has been done very successfully in Rohingya issue.
We have observed the same role by some other world’s human rights watch bodies. Those have pressurized Bangladesh to accept the Rohingyas without pressuring Myanmar to stop killing them. Thus the credibility of those human rights organizations were pictured in this way.
Our Prime Minister has also unmasked the fact to the world in her interview with HARDtalk. This was hard talk indeed for those who are overshadowing the fact.
