DHAKA: BNP standing committee member Lieutenant General (Retd) Mahbubur Rahman said misrule is prevailing in the country and it lacks human rights.
People including opposition leaders are being killed, tortured, abducted and faced ‘false’ cases, he alleged.
He came up the allegation Saturday while addressing a human chain held in front of the National Press Club in the city.
The human chain was organized demanding withdrawal of false cases against BNP leaders, their release, judgment of journalists’ murders including Sagar-Runi and rescue of Elias Ali.
Besides, Mahbubur Rahman urged the BNP leaders and public to get inspiration from rebellion Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam and protest against the oppression of the government.
He said, “We have to stand against the killing, abduction and false cases filed by the incumbent government.”
“Doesn’t matter how much the government tortures, the public will continue protesting for caretaker government system restoration and voting right of the people,” he added.
