DHAKA: Prime Minister and JS leader Sheikh Hasina said the government is planning to start the Indo-Bangla joint survey on India’s Tipaimukh dam project soon.
She came up with the information while replaying to a query of a lawmaker in the question-answer session of the National parliament on Wednesday.
The Premier said, “Indian has already accepted our proposal of conducting the joint survey on basis of bilateral discussion. We have already selected our team members and informed the Indian government about it. The survey will be started soon.”
She said, “Meanwhile, we have finalized the draft of Bangladesh Water Act 2012 and cabinet has already approved it morally.”
“Besides, the constriction work of Ganga Barrage project for ensuring water management system of Rajshahi, Pabna, Kushtia, Jessore, Khulna, Faridpur and Barisal regions will be started in next fiscal,” she added.
While replying to a query about Teesta water distribution, she said, “The present government has given priority to the water distribution problem of Teesta after assuming power. Discussion with India is under way.”
Replying to another question, the PM said, “The process of implementing the Dhaka Structure Plan (2016-2035) has already been started.”
