DHAKA: A 2012 American science fantasy film ‘John Carter’ hit Dhaka’s Star Cineplex Thursday evening.
The film, directed by Andrew Stanton; adapted from the first book in the fictional Barsoom series of novels by Edgar Rice Burroughs entitled, ‘A Princess of Mars’, will regularly be screened at the Cineplex from November 16 onwards.
The Cineplex will screen the movie everyday at 10.50am, 1.30pm, 4.00pm and at 6.45pm.
In the story, after the sudden death of John Carter (Taylor Kitsch), a former American Civil War Confederate Army captain, his nephew Edgar Rice Burroughs (Daryl Sabara) attends the funeral.
As per Carter’s instructions, the body is put in a tomb that can be unlocked only from the inside.
His attorney hands over Carter’s personal journal for Burroughs to read, in the hope of finding clues explaining Carter’s cause of death.
According to Wikipedia, the film chronicles the first interplanetary adventure of John Carter, portrayed by actor Taylor Kitsch.
The motion picture marks the centennial of the character’s first appearance.
Star Cineplex’s senior manager (media and marketing) Mesbah Uddin Ahmed told banglanews24.com that they were getting huge response from moviegoers in city by screening world famous movies.
‘The movie-buffs have a demand of more latest blockbuster movies to be screened at Star Cineplex,’ Ahmed said adding more, ‘the Cineplex does not give priority to business, it gives priority to the likings of the moviegoers’.
Expressing happiness he said, ‘We feel proud that people are coming back to cinema halls to enjoy better movies’.
