DHAKA: Fisheries and Livestock Minister Abdul Latif Biswas Tuesday said the poultry industry of the country has been destroyed due to inefficiency and mismanagement of his ministry.
The minister made the assertion while addressing ‘Distributors’ Conference of Kazi Farms’ held at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in the city.
An expert team has been formed comprising the ministries of agriculture, food and health to protect the poultry industry, he said.
He informed that necessary steps would be taken after getting report of the expert team.
The ruling Awami League lawmaker claimed the incumbent government has earned a total of Tk 4,300 crore from fisheries sector in the last year.
A laboratory would be set up at Savar to export meat to Europe, America and Middle East, the minister further informed.
Kazi Farms Managing Director Kazi Zahidul Hasan chaired the programme.
