MADARIPUR: At least 50 people were injured in a clash between two factions of ruling Awami League over establishing supremacy in Kutubpur Bazar of Shibchar Upazila of the district Tuesday.
Of the injured, 15 were admitted to Shibchar Uapzila Health Complex.
Looting was reported during the clash. Additional police forces were deployed to keep the situation under control.
Sources said, supporters of local AL leader and Union Parshad chairman Monoar Bepari and Juba League leader Atik Madbar locked into a clash with locally made weapons following an altercation over building shops in the area, leaving 50 persons injured from both sides.
On information, several teams of Shibchar Thana Police rushed in and took the situation under control.
Shibchar Thana Inspector Mizanur Rahman confirmed the matter to banglanews.
