DHAKA: Former Mayor of Dhaka City Corporation Sadek Hossain Khoka, also opposition BNP leader, along with six persons, was sued for his alleged embezzlement of state money.
Deputy Director of Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Harun-or-Rashid filed the case with Shahbagh Thana alleging embezzlement of a total of Tk 827 crore.
Other accused of the case are former superintendent engineer and presently project director M Shihab Uddin, executive director (DCC Zone-10) Mansur Ahmed, deputy assistant engineer (DCC Zone-8) Aminur Rahman, acting executive engineer Mofizur Rahman, and Mizanur Rahman.
On February 15, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) lodged the case against four persons, including the former mayor alleging embezzlement of a total of Tk 3719,900 with Shahbagh Thana.
The other accused are president of Dhaka City Corporation Super Market Owners Association Abdul Baten Nakib, general secretary Mahmud Hasan Azad and parking lot manager AHM Tareq.
Assistant Director of the ACC Mahbubul Alam told banglanews that Khoka, along with three persons, embezzled the leased money of basement parking of the city corporation market at Banani.
The longest-serving Mayor of Dhaka City Corporation, Sadek Hossain Khoka, unofficially resigned from his post of DCC mayor on November 28 in the last year.
