COMILLA : A man was burned alive and three others injured in Companyganj Bazar area under Murad Nagar upazila of the district Wednesday midnight.
The deceased was identified as Jahangir Alam, 30, son of Madan Mia, of Mirza Nagar village under Debidar upazila.
Sources said, “An electric transformer exploded near one Julhash Mia’s petrol and diesel shop at about 12am while they were unloading oil from a truck, killing Jahangir on the spot and injuring the others.”
Injured Janu Mia, Abul Khayer and Zia Ahmed were admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Besides, the shop and oil-laden truck was also gutted in the blaze, said sources.
On information, four fire fighters units from Comilla, Murad Nagar, Chandina and Kashba upazila rushed in and brought the blaze under control after a frantic effort.
Confirming the matter to banglanews, Comilla fire service officer Shahab Uddin said, “The extent of damage was estimated at Tk. 20 lakh.”
