DHAKA: Former minister of BNP-led-four-party alliance government Barrister Nazmul Huda on Friday afternoon declared a new political party named Bangladesh Nationalist Front (BNF).
Nazmul Huda was made the convener of the new party.
The name of the new party was unveiled through an iftar mahfil at Imperial Hotel in the city around 5:00pm.
While presenting the aim of the new party, Nazmul said, “BNF has worked as a platform earlier. But, from now on it is going to act like a complete political party.”
Replying to a query, he said, “I decided to form the party not to assume the power but remain myself in political discussions.”
However, he announced that his party will compete for 300 seats in the next elections.
Regarding the issue of forming a new party, the former minister said, “BNP is my favorite party. I have decided to form new party as I do not want to break it.”
“But, I feel the need of forming the party in order to uphold the main aim and plan of former president Ziaur Rahman as BNP is not following his ideals.”
Meanwhile, he said that there is no need to restore the caretaker government system for holding fair elections as the Election Commission itself is enough to arrange a free and fair election.
Earlier on November 21, former minister and BNP vice-chairman Barrister Nazmul Huda, a founder-member of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), has been expelled from the party for his involvement in “anti-organizational activities”.
