DHAKA: A new national committee of Bangladesh Krishak League (BKL), a front organization of ruling Awami League, has been announced Thursday.
Motahar Hossain Mollah, Advocate Khandoker Shamsul Huq Reza and MA Karim have been elected as its president, general secretary and vice-president respectively, party sources said.
The new BKL body has been formed at its triennial national council held in city’s Bangabandhu International Conference Centre at Agargaon.
Earlier in the day, Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina formally inaugurated the council.
BKL president Dr Mirza A jail chaired the programme attended by nearly 8,000 councillors and delegates from across the country.
On April 19 in 1972, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman formed the BKL.
The last national council of the BKL was held on July 29 in 2003.
