DHAKA: Home Affairs Minister of India Sushil Kumar Sambhaji Rao Shinde will arrive here on January 28 on a two-day visit at the invitation of Home Minister MK Alamgir.
Shinde is one of the most senior members of the Union Cabinet. He assumed the office of Home Minister on 31 July 2012.
He was earlier the Minister of Power at the Centre and prior to that the Governor of Andhra Pradesh from 2004 to 2006 and Chief Minister of Maharashtra from 2003-2004. He is currently the Leader of the Lok Sabha.
Shinde’s visit follows the visit in December 2012 of the Home Minister of Bangladesh to India.
The Minister will hold discussions to further strengthen cooperation between India and Bangladesh in the areas of security, border management, border infrastructure, training and capacity building and people-to-people exchanges.
During his visit, Shinde is likely to call on the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Foreign Minister Dr Dipu Moni.
