DHAKA: The parliamentary committee on communications ministry alleged that Finance Minister AMA Muhith confused Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina over the issue of World Bank funding in much-talked-about Padma Bridge project.
The JS body also recommended that if the government wants to construct the bridge with own funding, it should step forward keeping in mind that.
The JS body came up with the allegation in its 30th meeting held at parliament Bhaban in the city Tuesday.
The meeting observed that the prime minister told the bridge would be constructed with own funding while the finance minister is thinking for WB fund which made people confused.
Expressing disappointment, communications minister Obaidul Quader alleged, “The finance minister didn’t call me in any meeting and he didn’t show me the draft of the speech of prime minister in this regard.”
Member of the committee Golam Maula Roni confirmed the matter to banglanews emerging from the meeting.
While chairman of the committee ruled out the matter of any kind of discussion over Padma Bridge in the meeting.
The meeting was attended, among others, by Zillul Hakim, Narzul Islam Monju, HM Golam Reza and Omar Faruk Chowdhury.
