NOAKHALI: A youth was killed and 10 people were injured in a clash between two groups of villagers during a settlement meeting over land dispute at Charkakra village in Companiganj Upazila on Monday.
The deceased was identified as Shahidul Islam Shahin, 19.
Companiganj Thana SI Sudhir Rangon Barua banglanews, “One retired army man Nur Nabi had long time dispute with Nasir Uddin over land.”
Following the dispute, supporters of two rival groups locked into a clash during a settlement meeting at about 11am, leaving at least 11 injured on both sides.
Later, locals rushed to Companiganj Health Complex, where on-duty doctor declared Shahin dead.
The body was sent to Noakhali medical College Hospital for autopsy.
Police held three people in this connection. The detainees are Saiful Islam, 28, Nur Uddin, 26, and Siraj Alam, 38.
The process is underway to file cases one against another.
