Acid attack on 2 RMG workers in city

DHAKA: Two RMG workers sustained severe injuries in an acid attack in Mirpur Mazar Road area in the city on Wednesday evening.

The victims are---- Mariam, 25, wife of Md Rasel of Gabtali and Momtaz, 18, daughter of Md Kamal of the same area. They are the workers of Babylon Garments in Mirpur.

Mariam’s mother Kohinur told banglanews, “Mariam and Rasel had conflicts from the time their son Mahim, 4, was born. Rasel had threatened to throw acid on her when he took away Mahin on January 22.”

She said, “Over the same feud, Rasel threw acid on her while she and her co-worker Momtaz were returning home around 7pm, injuring two of them.”

He added, “They were rushed to Mirpur Selina Hospital and later the relatives shifted them to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.”
