DHAKA: Opposition BNP Standing Committee Member Barrister Rafiqul Islam Mia said the cost of Padma Bridge construction will go high if it is built by taking loan from other ways except the World Bank.
He came up with the statement while addressing a meeting organized by ‘Amra Bangladesh’ demanding release of BNP leader Abdus Salam Pintu held at the National Press Club Wednesday.
The BNP leader claimed that there is no understanding between the ministers as Finance Minister AMA Muhith said the government would discuss the matter with the WB while Communications Minister Obaidul Quader said they would discuss the issue with Malaysia.
Anwar said the World Bank asked the government to fire or send in leave former Communications Minister Syed Abul Hossain and his secretary but the government only reshuffled them.
Amra Bangaldesh President Jakir Hossain in the chair, the programme was also addressed, among others, BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia’s adviser Shamsuzzaman Dudu and BNP leader Nur Mohammad.
