DHAKA: International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) Thursday adjourned placing argument by defense lawyers till March 28 for framing charge against Jamaat leader Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mujaheed, for his alleged involvement in ‘crimes against humanity’.
Defense lawyers Barrister Munshi Ahsan Kabir and Advocate Tazul Islam placed their argument.
Then, the two member tribunal adjourned the tribunal proceedings till March 28. The defense lawyer will conclude their argument on the day.
Earlier, the Jamaat leader was produced before the tribunal from Narayanganj central jail.
On March 11 and 20, state prosecution concluded read out 109 pages of formal charge against the Jamaat leader.
On January 16, Prosecutors of the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) resubmitted the formal charges against the Assistant Secretary General of Jamaat-e-Islami.
Earlier on December 28, the ICT returned to the prosecution the charges of crimes against humanity brought against Mujaheed terming those ‘scattered and irrelevant’.
Mujaheed was arrested on June 29, 2010 on charges of hurting religious sentiments of Muslims through blasphemous comments.
