DHAKA: Industries Minister Dilip Barua on Sunday urged the Election Commission (EC) to cancel the registration of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami as the political party failed to fulfill the terms and conditions of the EC.
The minister, also the General Secretary of Bangladesher Samyabadi Dal, also requested the election commission not to sit with Jamaat.
He came up with the plea at a rally at the party’s office in city’s Topkhana Road which was organized demanding cancellation of Jamaat’s registration as political party with the EC.
Dilip Barua added: “Politics will be practiced in a congenial atmosphere if Jamaat is banned.”
This left-leaning leader sought social movement led by all the democratic political parties to prevent Jamaat.
