MEHERPUR: A Juba League activist was shot to death by some unidentified criminals in Gangni upazila early Monday.
The deceased was identified as Mahir Uddin, 45, son of Amir Uddin of Bamandi Nishipur village in the upazila.
Gangni Thana OC Bimal Krishna Mollik told banglanews, “Locals informed police about a bullet-hit body lying on the ground a local field at about 6 am.”
On information, police from Bamandi outpost rushed in at about 7am, but they could not recover the body amid protest.
Unidentified criminals fired bullets in Mahir’s mouth, eyes and other parts of the body. Leaving him dead on the spot, the OC added.
Meherpur Police Super Mirza Abdullah Hel Baki is on the way to the spot.

Mahir had been an accused a case filed for killing two siblings, the OC added.
Following the incident, agitating locals blockaded the Kushtia- Meherpur road that halts traffic movement in the area. Local
Awami League men are protesting the killing.
