DHAKA: Opposition BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir claimed that the people of the country have understood that the incumbent government has nothing to give them.
The senior leader of the party came up with the observation while addressing an Iftar party and discussion meeting arranged by Jatiyatabadi Muktijuddher Projonmo at a restaurant in city’s Naya Paltan area Wednesday.
Criticizing the Awami League government, he said, “Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has certified Suranjit Sengupta and Abul Hossain for their corruption as it is bound to hear the direction of the government.”
But, the opposition leaders and activists are being sued intentionally to keep themselves away from politics, he said.
The opposition spokesperson also said, “The caretaker government has been recognized internationally as last three election held under it successfully.”
He added: “But, the Awami League wants to hold next election under party government as it wants to snatch the voting rights of the people.”
With president of the organization Shama Obayed in the chair, the discussion was also addressed, among others, by BNP joint secretary general Barrister Mahbub Uddin Khokon and executive committee member Ismail Hossain Bengal.
