CHITTAGONG: A Chittagong court Thursday began the trial of six leaders and activists of Jatiyatabadi Mohila Dal, including city corporation councilor Manwara Begum Moni in a vandalism case.
Earlier in the day, the court indicted the Mohila Dal leaders and activists for vandalizing vehicles during a hartal.
Meanwhile, Chittagong Metropolitan Magistrate Ali Mansur fixed August 6 for hearing deposition against the opposition leaders and activist.
Confirming the matter, defense lawyer Mofizul Haque said, “We filed a petition seeking disposal of the case. But, the court indicted them rejecting our plea.”
He alleged that, of the detainees, two were not politicians. Police picked them up while they were passing through.
