DHAKA: South African investors and entrepreneurs are keen interested to invest in agriculture and industrial sectors of Bangladesh.
The newly appointed South African High Commissioner to Bangladesh Geoffrey Quinton Doidge came up with the message while presenting his credentials to President M Zillur Rahman at Bangabhaban Wednesday.
During the meeting, Geoffrey conveyed ‘Special Greetings’ of South African former President and also legend humanist leader Nelson Mandela to the President Zillur Rahman.
At that time, Zillur recalled the Nelson Mandela’s visit here to attend at a public rally in celebration of the 25th anniversary of independence of Bangladesh on March 26, 1997.
The envoy said despite having global rescission, Bangladesh secures seven percent growth of GDP. “It is out of imagination,” he said.
He lauded Bangladesh for great achievement in increasing women empowerment as well as removing gender disparity.
Doidge thanked Bangladesh for its great contribution for establishing peace in different African states through the UN peacekeeping missions.
Zillur Rahman urged the South African investors to invest here more and increase import from Bangladesh.
Bangladesh gives great importance to its relations with South Africa and looks forward to take it to a new height, said the President.
The envoy said South Africa would like to extend cooperation to Bangladesh all the time like other African states.
Foreign Secretary and Secretaries concerned of the President`s Office were present at that time.
