COMILLA: At least five people were killed and nine others injured in a head-on collision between a bus and a covered van near Iliatganj Bazar under Daudkandi upazila in the district on Sunday morning.
Of the deceased, two were identified as Lutfur Rahman, 40, and Monwara Begum.
The injured were rushed to different local hospitals.
Daudkandi highway police camp in-charge Anwar Hossain said, “A Comilla-bound passenger bus of Prime Paribahan fell into a road side ditch after the head-on collision at about 9:30am, leaving three people dead on the spot and 11 others injured.”
Later, two people succumbed to their injuries while undergoing treatment.
The rescue operation was underway till filing the report at about 11:30am.
