Jewel-Toned Smoky Eye
We’ve seen many different versions of the tried-and-true smoky eye, but the jewel-toned shadow actress Kerry Washington added at the Golden Globes gave the classic look a trendy edge.
Her makeup artist Carola Gonzalez used a bold purple hue on her inner corners, then balanced the colour using tawny neutral shades, all by Lancome.
‘In order to achieve the depth of her eye shadow, I wet the brush before picking up the colour,’ Gonzalez said.
‘Then, I applied it to Kerry’s eyelid and blended. It makes the pigment of the shadow more dense, and it appears darker.’
A graphic sweep of liquid eyeliner grounded the bright colour, and a few coats of mascara finished the look.
