RANGPUR: The teachers and general students of Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur, on Wednesday burnt the effigy of Vice chancellor (VC) Professor Dr Abdul Jalil Mia and observed a hunger strike programme demanding his resignation.
The demonstrating teachers and students observed hunger strike from 10:00am till 12:00 noon and later burnt the effigy of VC in front of his office around 12:30pm.
Sources said the classes and exams have been remained suspended for the fifth-day as part of the ongoing unrest.
The agitated teachers and students also threatened to continue with the protest till the VC resigns.
