Investors see massive fall

DHAKA: Investors witnessed sharp fall in the benchmark indices of country’s bourses on Monday after the three straight days of fall.

The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) general index shed over 179 points to stand at 4,675 at the close on the second trading day of the week.

The volume of transactions, however, increased to Tk 3,279 million from Sunday’s Tk 2,773 million. Trade deals stood at 98,570 against the previous day’s 79,024.

Of the issues traded, 15 advanced, 240 declined and 7 remained unchanged.

LANKABAFIN topped the turnover list with shares worth Tk 152 million having changed hands.

The other turnover leaders were LAFSURCEML, GP, GPHISPAT, MPETROLEUM, JAMUNAOIL, BEXIMCO, MICEMENT, AFTABAUTO and SQURPHARMA.
 
Chittagong stocks also followed the suit, with the CSE Selective Categories Index climbing up to 8,855 by gaining over 307 points.
 
Out of the issues traded, 12 gained, 164 declined and 7 remained unchanged.

On Sunday, the benchmark indices of DSE and CSE rose 121 and 203 points respectively.
