DHAKA: Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid said Bangladesh has brought epoch-making changes in its education system. The present government has allocated 22.4 percent of GDP and 11 percent of national budget for the education sector.

He came up with the information while addressing the inauguration programme of World Education Congress (WEC) in India’s Mumbai, says a press release of Edication ministry.

Nahid said, “We have distributed 3.12 crore text books among students in last three years by implementing the education policy. Meanwhile, we ensured maximum use of information technology in the sector by changing the previous curriculum.”

“Besides, the government has brought changes in the security system to run the admission process in different educational institutions”, he added.

Mentioning that the present government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is determined to make Bangladesh a county of middle income by 2021 by implementing digital Bangladesh policy, he said, “ We have already ensured the balance between male and female students in secondary and higher secondary level in a bid to achieve the goal.”

WEC authority has nominated Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid for WEC award for his outstanding contribution in the education sector of Bangladesh. He received the award on Friday night.
