DHAKA: Some 42 applications have been dropped for managing director and chief executive officer post of Biman Bangladesh Airlines. Of the applicants, eight are foreigners.
Outgoing acting managing director Captain Sheikh Nasiruddin Ahmed also applied for the post. Another former acting managing director remains among the applicants, said a competent source.
Sources said former air force officials will get priority in this regard as former Biman MD and CEO Air Commodore (retd) Zakiul Islam was a former official of air force.
The incumbent engineering director is also an air force official.
The detail information about the foreigner applicants could not be known immediately.
Several sources said the government is thinking about appointing skilled and experienced person from any foreign airlines to bring back stability in Biman.
Earlier on May 24, the recruitment advertisement for managing director and chief executive officer post was circulated in four national dailies.
On April 20, Biman MD and CEO Zakiul Islam resigned from his post.
