DHAKA: Opposition BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir alleged that the government and vice chancellor of Rajshahi university are liable for Sohel killing.

“RU VC inaugurated the subscription collection programme for Padma Bridge construction, so the government and VC are liable in this regard,” he added.

He came up with the allegation while addressing a seminar held at National Press Club in the city Wednesday.

Mirza Fakhrul said, “The Prime Minister talked boastfully to save the corrupt of the bridge but now she has started extortion.”

He also urged the Prime Minister to disclose the corruption of her ministers’ and Mps’ in Padma bridge project and to take loan from the World Bank to construct it.”

The discussion was addressed, among others, by Abul Hashem Rana and Shamimur Rahman.

Earlier on July 16, two BCL factions exchanged fire at Rajshahi University over establishing supremacy on the campus, leaving two BCL activists Sohel and Imran injured.

At least 15 rounds of bullets were exchanged during the gunfight between the supporters of RU Chhatra League President Ahmed Ali and General Secretary Abu Hossain Bipu at Madar Baksh Hall at about 12:15am on the day.

The bullet wounded BCL leader Abdullah-Al-Hasan Sohel was shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries in the noon.
