DHAKA: Opposition BNP standing Committee member MK Anwar Friday said it would be a nightmare for the government if they try to come power through imprudence sans caretaker government system restoration.
Without the return of caretaker government system, BNP won’t participate in the next general election as it is the demand of the nation and BNP won’t allow any election under partisan government in Bangladesh as well, he added.
He called the government to comply with the people’s demand over CG immediately and put aside the country and its people from conflicting situation and said if you fail to meet the demand, there would be no other way to flee.
He came up with the comment while addressing a human chain programme organized by Swadhinata Forum Kendrio Sangsad held at the National Press Club premises on Friday morning.
The programme was organized demanding the release of 18-party alliance leaders and activists including BNP’s acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and withdrawal of false cases filed against them.
Reproaching the remark of minister and state minister of home affairs, the veteran BNP leaders said, we have to leave the country to keep ourselves safe from police as the government turned the entire country into a prison.
“If you want to stun the demonstration by filing cases and captivity, the government has to take the responsibility, whatever the consequences are”, the BNP lawmaker said.
He also said the government is unsuccessful as they failed to deter the BNP rally held on March 12 last where lakhs of people participated. Right now they are trying to thwart the flow of mass people to BNP side by torture and repression on BNP activist.
“What type of democracy is this? As the running government withdrew some 7500 cases were filed against their leaders and activists and filed thousands of cases against the opposition leaders and activists” he asked.
Indicating Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina he said, you have filed cases against Khaleda Zia and her son Tarique after power occupation but you failed to verify a single one.
With the forum president Abu Naser Md Rahmat Ullah in the chair, Adviser to the BNP Chairperson Shamsuzzaman Dudu, ASM Abdul Halim, barrister Nasim Uddin Ashim and others addressed the chain.
