Moon sighting committee sits in evening

DHAKA: The National Moon Sighting Committee will sit on Saturday evening to fix the date of Eid-ul-Fitr, the largest religious festival of the Muslims, Islamic Foundation sources said.

The meeting will be held at the Islamic Foundation’s Baitul Mukarram conference room at 7:00pm with State Minister for Religious Affairs and Chairman of the committee Advocate M Shahjahan Mia in the chair.

The committee will announce the date for Eid-ul-Fitr reviewing information about sighting the moon of the holy month of Shawal.

If people see the moon of Shawal anywhere in Bangladesh sky have been urged to inform the committee over following phone and fax numbers.

Phone numbers are 9559493, 9559643, 9555947, 9556407 and 9558337 while the fax is 9563397.
