Nat’l income tax day observed

DHAKA: The National Income Tax Day was observed with a view to creating awareness among the taxpayers about income tax in the country Saturday.

The National Board of Revenue (NBR) recognized highest and long-time taxpayers at the gymnasium hall to encourage people pay taxes regularly.

Food and disaster management minister Dr Abdur Razzak called for spurring all people eligible for paying tax to bring them under tax net to boost revenue and free the country from the net of the income beyond tax.

The food minister came up with the call while addressing a discussion meeting and award giving ceremony of tax payees in the city on Saturday.

Marking the day, the NBR brought out colorful procession from the NBR office of the city around 8:15am.

NBR Chairman Nasir Uddin Ahmed, member Syed Aminul Karmi, MA Kader Sarkar, Farid Uddin, Firoz Alam Shah and Md Alauddin joined the procession.

Besides, NBR Chittagong Tax Zone hosted a divisional level function at MA Aziz Stadium and accorded reception to 65 highest and long-term taxpayers here marking the day.

NBR) Rajshahi Tax Zone accorded reception to 45 highest and long-term taxpayers and a total of 55 highest and long-term taxpayers were accorded reception by Khulna Tax Zone.

A seven-day income tax fair will begin on Sunday in Chittagong with a theme of ‘I pay tax for myself’.

Primary and Mass Education Minister Afsarul Amin is scheduled to inaugurate the fair at gymnasium hall of MA Aziz Stadium at 10:00am in the day.

The NBR is set to hold the fair in divisional cities, including the capital from September 16 to 22 as part of an awareness campaign.

The fair which will remain open from 10:00am to 6:00pm everyday, will end on September 22.
