BNP infighting injures 12 in Gazipur

GAZIPUR: At least 12 people injured in a clash between two factions of BNP centering Iftar party at Joydebpur Govt Primary Girls’ School premise under the district town on Thursday afternoon.

Sources said supporters of BNP central leader and former MP Hasan Uddin Sarkar and supporters of former state minister and adviser to Khaleda Professor MA Mannan locked into a clash around 5:30pm as the supporters of Hasan attempted to attack on the Iftar stage organized by Mannan group in the area, leaving 12 injured from both sides.

Tension mounted in the area following the incident.

Joydebpur Thana Officer-in-Charge M Kamruzzaman told banglanews that additional police forces were deployed in the area to avert further untoward situation.
