DHAKA: London-based weekly magazine The Economist in its online issue published an article on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and the ongoing political situation of Bangladesh.
Bangladesh will send rejoinder of the report.
A senior officer of the foreign ministry, wishing anonymity, told banglanews that the ministry has already made a draft of the rejoinder.
He said the rejoinder will be prepared after analyzing the reports of Economist.
The Economist, in its May 26 online issue, published two reports titled ‘Politics in Bangladesh: Banged about’ and ‘Bangladesh’s toxic politics: Hello, Delhi’.
The reports read Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is heading the country towards danger through different political steps.
Calling upon India to protect Bangladesh, the report said that India is only the country which can manage Bangladesh to listen its words.
The report also criticized opposition BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia.
On July 30, 2011, the Economist published an article titled ‘India and Bangladesh: Embraceable You’ which made ‘objectionable’ comment on the Bangladesh-India relations, transit, International Crimes Tribunal and 2008 national elections in Bangladesh.
On August 5, 2011, the Economist published the four-page rejoinder of Bangladesh, signed by Shamim Ahsan, DG of the external publicity wing of the Foreign Ministry.
