45 BNP men held in city

DHAKA: At least 45 BNP leaders and activists were held from city’s Diploma Engineers Institute on Monday evening.

Sources said Ramna Thana police arrested them soon after attending the commemorative meeting for former lawmaker Syed Iskander, also BNP leader, in the evening.

Meanwhile, opposition BNP leader Barrister Moudud Ahmed was present as the chief guest in the programme organized by Shaheed Zia Shriti Sangsad.

Ramna Thana Inspector (investigation) Mashiur Rahman told banglanews: “There are complaints filed against the arrestees with the Thana.”

He said, “They were trying to take onto the streets and vandalize vehicles.”
