New York: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Sunday visited ailing writer and soap-opera maker Humayun Ahmed at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC) in the city and inquired about his treatment.
Among others, foreign minister Dr. dipu Moni and Bangladesh Ambassador to US and PR to the UN Dr. Abdul Momen accompanied her during the visit.
Hasina herself disclosed the matter while attending a public reception in New York in the evening.
According to sources, the Premier stayed beside him for a while and assured him all kinds of necessary treatment.
Earlier, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina left for the United States on September 16 to attend the 66th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) session at the UN headquarters in New York.
During her 11-day visit, she also attended a number of events organized by the UN Secretary-General on counterterrorism, communicable diseases, women empowerment and food security apart from a series of bilateral meetings.
During her stay in the USA, the Prime Minister will undergo a medical checkup in Boston.
She is expected to return home on September 28.
