DHAKA: Former advisor to a caretaker government Dr. Akbar Ali Khan said country’s politics should not be put on the hands of only politicians as it is very important for citizens.
He said: “The citizens should involve themselves with politics directly.”
He came up with the observation while addressing a commemorative meeting on ‘Anti-corruption movement of Dr. Muzaffar Ahmed’ at the Diploma Engineers Institution auditorium in the capital`s Kakrail on Wednesday.
He said, “We feel the presence of Dr. Muzaffar Ahmed in such critical political situation of the country. We will get necessary direction from him, if he was alive.”
“Dr. Muzaffar used to say that citizens should play a direct role in all sectors of life, including politics,” he added.
While talking about Dr. Muzaffar, he said, “He was not only a teacher, but also worked as a conscious citizen. He always moved forward to settle any major crisis of the country.”
Bangladesh today lacks a pioneer like him, said Dr. Akbar.
