PIROJPUR: At least 12 passengers went missing as a cement-laden trawler capsized in Shapleza Canal of Mathbaria upazila of the district on Sunday morning.
Mathbaria Thana sources said a trawler named ‘Hasan-Shihab’ carrying 30 to 35 passengers collided with another trawler near Machhuabazar area around 9:00am, leaving its 12 passengers missing.
Officer-in-Charge of Mathbaria Thana Sheikh M Abu Jahid told banglanews, a diving squad from Barisal Naval Office along with locals, police and fire fighters are trying to rescue the missing persons.
He apprehended death of some people in this connection.
