JHALKATI: A freedom fighter was killed and two others were injured in a road accident on Gabkhan bridge on Barisal-Khulna highway Saturday morning.
The deceased was identified as Syed Shamsul Islam, 60, Commander of Jhalakati district Freedom Fighters Unit.
Jhalakati Thana OC Abdul Mannan told banglanews, “A motorcycle carrying them hit the railing of Gabkhan Bridge at about 10:15 am, leaving three bikeriders injured.”
Locals rushed the injured to Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital where on-duty doctor declared Shamsul Alam dead.
An unnatural death case was filed in this connection.
Besides, Jhalakati Deputy Commissioner Ashok Kumar Biswas, police super Majid Ali and a team of Rapid Action Battalion-8 visited the spot.
