DHAKA: Investors witnessed major fall in the benchmark indices of country’s bourses on Wednesday.
The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) general index shed over 108 points to stand at 4,295 at the close on the day trading.
The volume of transactions, however, increased to Tk 1,228 million from Tuesday Tk 1,407 million. Trade deals stood at 46,194 against the previous day’s 49,556.
Of the issues traded, 21 advanced, 222 declined and 11 remained unchanged.
BSCCL topped the turnover list with shares worth Tk 81 million having changed hands.
The other turnover leaders were GP, LAFSURCEML, LANKABAFIN, MPETROLEUM, MICEMENT, JAMUNAOIL, SQURPHARMA, TITASGAS and BEXIMCO.
Chittagong stocks also followed the suit, with the CSE Selective Categories Index climbing down to 8,241 by dropping over 181 points.
Out of the issues traded, 9 gained, 166 declined and 4 remained unchanged.
On Tuesday, the benchmark indices at DSE and CSE also shed 14 and 3 points respectively.
