DHAKA: Bangladesh Railway authorities started selling advance train tickets from Saturday morning to facilitate the journey of thousands of homebound people ahead of the Eid-ul-Azha festival, arranging five pairs of special trains to cope with a huge rush.
Advance tickets for different routes are being sold out from 7:00am to 4:00pm till October 17.
Bangladesh Railway sources said the tickets for traveling on October 22 are being sold Saturday while the tickets for October 23 on Sunday, tickets for October 24 on Monday, tickets for October 25 on Tuesday and the tickers for October 26 on Wednesday.
Bangladesh Railway will run five pairs of special trains from the Kamalapur railway station between three days before the Eid day and after. The tickets of the special train will be sold October 24, 25 and 26.
Besides, four trains will leave Dhaka for Sholakia of Kishoreganj on the Eid day.
The advance ticket buyers are lower than any other time as the train fare has been increased, a spot account said.
October 1, the government increased fares of trains by about 50 percent aiming to reduce the railway`s annual loss.
