DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina placed wreath on the coffin of National Professor Dr Nurul Islam at Bangbandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University after his first namaj-e-janaza Friday.
The premier prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed profound sympathy to the bereaved family members.
Professor Dr. Nurul Islam is no more. He breathed his last at 9:45 pm at LabAid Hospital in the capital Thursday night.
He was 88 and was suffering from old age complicacies.
Eminent physician Dr. Nurul Islam was the personal physician of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
He founded Bangabandhu Memorial Hospital and was the founding Vice Chancellor of University of Science and Technologies (USTC) in Chittagong.
Professor Nurul Islam, hailed from Mohammadpur village of Chandanaish in Chittagong left his wife, a son, two daughters and many followers and well wishers to mourn his death.
He had been fighting against drug and smoking for a long time.
