DHAKA: The authorities of Jagannath University have expelled six activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League permanently.
They also postponed the result of one and expelled another for one semester.
The decision was taken in the 49th syndicate meeting of the university.
Saiful Islam Akanda, convener of JnU Chhatra league, has welcomed the decision.
On May 1, the expelled activists assaulted three teachers following a silly matter. Later University Teachers’ Association staged several programme demanding expel and exemplary punishment for the accused.
The permanently expelled students are Ataul Gani Osman Imon of Islamic History and Culture (2005-06), Sanjib Basak and Sahidul Haq Manik of Economics (2006-06), Shahadat Hossain and Nuruddin Sumon of Bangla (2006-06), Bhupati Kumar Roy Prasanta, Philosophy (Master 2008-2009).
Besides result of Hiron Kumar Roy of Economics (2008-2009) was postponed for next six months and SM Jubayer of Islamic History and Culture (2005-06) was expelled for one semester.
Proctor Ashok Kumar Saha said, “The decision will help in maintaining discipline on campus.”
