BRAHMANBARIA: Some unidentified hijackers strangled a woman to death and looted gold ornaments and valuables from her in Ghatura area under Sadar upazila on Comilla-Sylhet highway on Tuesday evening.
The deceased was identified as Minara Begum, 35, wife of Morshed Mia, of Suhilpur Nagdapara area.
Police sources said Minara was returning from her parent’s house in a CNG-run auto rickshaw along with her son Mamun. But, on her way back to home, some unidentified hijackers strangled her to death and looted gold ornaments and other valuables.
Hearing the hue and cry of Mamun, locals rushed in and informed police about the matter.
Confirming the matter, Sadar Thana OC Abdur Rob told banglanews, “Mamun confirmed the matter to police and we will investigate the issue.”
