Stocks witness minor fall

DHAKA: Country’s stock market marked minor fall in its price indices on Monday.

The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) general index shed over 7 points minus to stand at 3,994 at the close on the second trading day of the week.

The volume of transactions, however, decreased to Tk 1,229 million from Sunday’s Tk 1,382 million. Trade deals stood at 49,133 against the previous day’s 53,972.

Of the issues traded, 92 advanced, 135 declined and 30 remained unchanged.

BSCCL topped the turnover list with shares worth Tk 60 million having changed hands.

The other turnover leaders were GP, LAFSURCEML, MPETROLEUM, NBL, SQURPHARMA, LANKABAFIN, BEXIMCO, JAMUNAOIL and UNIQUEHRL.

Chittagong stocks also followed the suit, with the CSE Selective Categories Index climbing down to 7,695 by dropping over 82 points.
 
Out of the issues traded, 66 gained, 104 declined and 13 remained unchanged.

On Sunday, the benchmark indices of DSE and CSE shed over 163 and 253 points respectively.
