DHAKA: A Dhaka court Sunday rejected two petitions filed to review the vehicle torching case against BNP Acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and 45 other 18-party leaders.

Dhaka Metropolitan Session Judge Jahirul Haq rejected the petitions filed by opposition BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and BNP standing committee member Dr Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain.

On July 31, the court issued an arrest warrant against them canceling their bail as they did not appear before the court during the charge framing hearing in the case.

On April 30, BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir among a number of 18-party alliance leaders were sued for their alleged involvement in cocktail explosion at secretariat, vehicle vandalism and arson in PM office area during Sunday’s dawn-to-dusk hartal.
